is he lazy....

or is it just too early? are babies suppose to be able to hold up their heads at 4 months? have we been laying him on his back too long? well, anyway, this is what happens when we do put him on his belly. sometimes he does get his upper body up, but not for very long.
oh, and did i say he was over finger sucking? yah, uhh.. no. now he is a professional thumb sucker. THE THUMB??! how am i going to get him off of that? to top it off, it doesn't really do much soothing anymore. he just sucks it, then pulls it out and cries. who knows. kainoa definitely talks (babbles) more. i think he's trying to keep up with his sister.

here's kymora copying kainoa...
i guess we'll have to wait and see what dr.chen says about his head lifting. : )

4 months old!!!

so this fatty is now 4 months old :) he is getting so big so fast. my cousin jamie blogs about her kids milestones on a monthly basis (well, elsie anyway:) so, yes, call me copy cat, i'm doing the same thing. kainoa is into scratching the heck out of his head when he is tired. he looooves it when you do it for him. he'll fall asleep in 10 seconds w/a little head rubbing. still likes his fingers, but not as much as before. sleeps pretty good through the night. if i nurse him at around 5 am he'll stay asleep until 8 or 9... sorry jame.. ;) he 'tells long stories', talks to his toys, and reaches and grabs for them. he see's the dr. on monday, so i'll know how much he weighs and his length. he is a giggler and smiles so much.
here he is staring at his toys in amazement/shock:
he has earned the nicknames kaikai, noa, snarfle(when he was sick), bubba, sonny bunny, surf (was sir, but then evolved to surf.. i know..), and bubba fart, thanks to his sister.
he's a getting bigger everyday, showing signs of toddlerism around the corner. i love it. till next time....
bye!

partying on a week night.. twice at that!!

the salanoa clan had back to back family fun! tuesday we made veggie pizza's. this was a family first. kymora was a big help in the kitchen- putting sauce on the crust, sprinkling cheese and veggies. it was a good way to get her to eat veggies that she usually doesn't eat. she was excited to sample her 'cooking'. that's one thing that girl looooves to do- 'cook' in the kitchen. she loves to help out with food preparation and cooking in general. i hope it's something that will last with her as she gets older. as for the pizza, it came out pretty good, to my surprise ;) more shots of her helping out.the finished product:
umm umm goood!

our second family first was uno! kymora got a deck of uno cards in her stocking from Santa this christmas. she's played before and got the concept pretty well. we gave it a whirl on wednesday and had a blast! she won the first game, followed by daddy and daddy again. as for me, well, lets just say cards isn't my game :)

the winning shot:
we had a such a good time that we declared thursday nights 'FAMILY GAME NIGHT'! thank god for tivo, or i'd miss grey's. not that that's more important than my family .. ;) a few more pics of the kids....

kainoa's poker face- he sure can bluff!

passed out from all the partying!!!

a not so productive sunday...

so i decided to go all butch and varnish and sand my headboard. i didn't really love the color in the first place, and with the new addition finished, i figured it was a good time to change the color of my bed set. i thought, hey, since we're going to disassemble the bed anyway, why not varnish it while it's apart? yah, umm.. no. first, it didn't take a few hours like i thought. second, i DID need muelu's help, unlike i told him. (hey after 2 hours of sanding, your forearms would hurt too. not to mention look like popeyes) i was determined to do this alone with out help, since it was 'my' project as muelu stated. well, it didn't look too bad. oh and did i mention , i just did one side since i was literally dying from the sanding, varnish inhalation and sun?! anyway, here's some before
and after (this was after coat one, it really is darker and not soo red, i'll update when i'm totally finished and moved in my room)

after the deathly revamping of my bed, we had a pretty nice sunday. we just had a lazy day. loove those. full of sleep and snuggling... here's a recent picture of my finger sucker and my ham, kymora. kainoa is 3.75 months old, btw.

see ya 2006...

i know it's all late, but i still felt the need to post an hasta-luego-2006. this was a good year. too many great things have happened, i just want to make sure i document some of the highlights.
of course, kainoa muelu salanoa was born. september 16 @ 7:45 pm. my family left to get some sushi, muelu stepped out for a minute and of course kainoa starts to crown. he was born in about 10 minutes. after my mom had her rainbow roll, she met her new grandson. he's 3.5 months old and such a joy to watch. he is a good baby. so full of smiles and laughs. he discovered his fingers earlier this week and can't stop throwing up the 'one' sign with his pointing finger. sooo cute.

kymora started pre-k and soccer this year. ms.celes, her teacher, informed us that she is a born leader during our first parent teacher meeting. ms.celes pointed out some of kymora's strenghts, and leadership was one of them. i was so happy to hear that since i am NOT a leader in any way. some of her weaknesses: perfection. to the point of breakdown. i am trying to work on that since i am sure i am a big contributor to her complex. sorry kymora : ( she also started soccer for the first time. kymora loved it. she scored 9 goals this seasons. not too shabby for a rookie :) indoor starts in february, and she's excited.

2006 wasn't so bad for me either. besides being SICK of morning sickness, back aches, and sore legs from my pregnancy, the year was pretty good to me. what more could i ask for? i'm a lucky girl and that's one thing i do not want to forget or take for granted in 2007. before i start to bitch at how i wish i had a bigger house, a better job, smaller thighs (well, some things just have the right to bitch about :), or get mad at muelu for forgetting to take out the trash, i want to try and remember how lucky i am. how lucky i am to have so much love in my life, how lucky i am to have a home, a job, a huge family and a small, close circle of good friends, how lucky i am ... how lucky i am.
i'm sure 2007 will be filled with many more exciting moments for me to blog about. best be sure i WILL update .... toodles '06..

cal-king size fun...

he's ticklish!! on saturday, i was getting the baby ready for bed. i was undressing him on our bed, and for some reason i started tickling his sides and armpits. omg, he belt out a huge laugh. one after the other. his laugh is really funny. he sounds like he is holding back, or at least trying to. well, anyway, i call muelu in and tell him this great discovery i made, like when Columbus thought he discovered that the world was round, yah.. well, he says he already knew that. drats! well, i guess he wants to show me up because he just went at it w/the baby tickling him. sad to say, kainoa laughed sooo much harder when his daddy did it. we were all laughing so hard. he's such a happy baby. i'm glad he's semi back to his old jolly self (he's getting better from being sick :) these are the moments that i want to remember. kainoa is almost 4 months old, and already it's going by fast. we had a great night saturday.

after the tickling marathon, kymora and her dad played w/her new dress up little mermaid dolls. we just hung out on our bed laughing, being silly, having a good time. who would have thought something so simple as a bed could be the thing that brings us together?
