Dear Kava,

happy happy 1st birthday, my love. i can't believe it's here. your first birthday. it seemed as if i just found out we were going to be blessed with another baby in our family.

if you talk to your brother and sister, you will probably find out that i love to tell each of you the story of how you were born ;)

well, let's get there.. september 2010, i found out we were pregnant. your lola keeps insisting she knew because i "craved" italian food on my birthday. i simply made a suggestion for dinner of italian food. i swear the minute i found out i was pregnant with you, my back hurt. and that's how it was the ENTIRE TIME. i had morning sickness right away.

funny story, when i was 4 months along, we went to have an ultra sound. i asked the tech not to tell me what you were. she was doing fine until i asked, how does the baby look. she said, ' he looks fine'. I said, 'did you say HE?! i'm having a boy?' she accidentally spilled the beans. deep down, i was ecstatic. i wanted another boy. we decided to name you after your great grandfather, kava. we decided it was time to stick w/tradition on your dad's side. of course your middle name is after robert nesta marley, aka, bob marley.

i was put on light bed rest at about 6 months into the pregnancy. luckily, you were ok. i started having cramps at about 2 am on may 6th. i finally woke up your dad at about 3 am and went to memorial. the 'cramps' got harder and i was admitted. the nurse guessed that i would have you at about 1230 .. and i had you at 1215 pm. you were 8lbs 4oz 21 inches of loveliness. i fell in love the minute you were placed in my arms. i had instant amnesia of the pain i went through. this may sound cheesy, but when i look at you guys, it's like i see a beautiful sunset. glowing eyes, bright smiles. i'm so grateful to have you guys in my life.

kava, you are pure joy. you are the happiest baby of the 3 (sorry guys). you are so giddy. you smile in your sleep. i hope you stay this way. enjoy your life, smile at all times. look at the world with an open heart. i loved this year we had together. i can't wait to spend many many many more with you. my little man. i can't wait to see what more you bring to our family.

meet San Francisco

that's what kainoa wants to change his name to. that was as of last friday. oh, and he wants to name his dog (that we don't have) Super Dog. that's all.

shocker. i'm in a picture with one of my kids. thanks to my tita leah and her new phone. otherwise, i don't think this would happen.

i'm getting old. but, i wanted to post this so my kids know that i was once sort of young. ;)

easter 2011

easter was busy. had some good food and good easter egg hunts. the kids woke up to easter baskets and a quick hunt at our house. we hid confetti eggs and it was a hit.

i loved being at my grandma's house watching the 3 set of kids hunt for eggs. babies, preteens, and teens plus twenty somethings hunting. it was so fun to watch.

kava and adalyn were the youngest. they got their own personal egg hunt. i think kava got 5 bucks and some skittles. score!

someone is almost 1!

my kava boy is just a few weeks shy of turning one...

i just had to post these pics of him. so cute. the boy loves gabba gabba.

he does the hand motion to the infamous, 'i have 2 hands' and claps at the appropriate time. he pretends he has phone and tries to talk on it. one of my favs: he gives high fives :) and below he is making noises with his hand. genius, i say... genius.
