just like daddy

this guy wants to be just like daddy (actually so does kymora.. lol) if daddy is wearing a hat, so does kainoa. if daddy wears his LB shirt, so does kainoa. he won't stop until he's just like daddy. so this morning, daddy was lawn-mowing the grass, so kainoa did the same. he cracks me up.

goo BEACH!

kymora had her first scrimmage game playing for a club team. i have to say she surprised us. i've never seen her so aggressive. she was hustling for the ball, using her skills. she even faked out a much bigger girl so hard that the girl fell down.
i have to give my daughter some 'props' ;) at her age (or even now!) i could never play a sport the way she does, with courage and skill. i've always lacked confidence to play a sport seriously. i mean sure, i played volleyball, softball, and basketball in 8th grade, but it was more for a social aspect than competitiveness. i think most of the time i was on the bench. but kymora plays w/100%. the one thing i've noticed about her is she takes direction and applies it so well. she may not be the best, but tell her what you want her to do and she delivers. i was so proud of her yesterday. even though it was a scrimmage game, she played with full focus and drive. i'm so glad she isn't like me. easily intimidated and quick to give up. i know her confidence and drive will take her so far in life. i just love watching her grow and evolve into this little person. so proud of you kyks!

finally!

lot's of finally's! finally a new camera :) that i love. my olympus died on me, and thanks to costco and my pumping YU blood, i got a new one. finally 38 weeks pregnant. finally on maternity leave. finally blogging. finally muelu finished school and is going to take his boards soon. finally!
(kainoa kissing my belly, not a volleyball)

i'm almost there. this pregnancy has been a horror. 2 admissions to labor & delivery. got put on part time in february. lots of contractions. thank God everything is ok and almost over ;)
kyks lost 2 more teeth, is still in soccer and enjoying school.

kainoa, well is still kainoa. he told me the other day that he wanted 'mittens and chip and rock and roll ice cream'. i'm loving being home with him.

muelu's home too. waiting for that infamous board date. so proud of him. he did so well in school. but it didn't come easy. he was constantly studying, stressing out. plus my pregnancy drama didn't help. he somehow balanced school, the kids and taking care of the house .. i don't know how he did it. so thankful for him. i'm sure he's tired my complaining, but doesn't ever say anything.

that has been my life in a small nut shell. i'll definitely post pictures of the baby when he comes. sooo damn excited!!!!

happy valentine's day

i do like romantic mushy stuff.. i totally fall for it. but when life is so full of chaos, craziness, business, the day to to day stuff is what matters.

so, here it is, valentine's day and muelu has to help his sister move. but, i really don't mind. he's stepped up so much during these 7 months, what's one man made holiday? on top of going to school full time, he makes dinner 90% of the time, does the laundry (folds and has kyks put it away) 98% of the time, gives baths, makes desserts (mmm), cleans the house, does the grocery shopping, and helps w/kymora's homework. he did her doll project w/her, reviewed for her spelling test, took her to school for me. so to me, that's romance. he hepls out so much with out ANY complaints ;) **btw, i've had a difficult pregnancy, i'm not just watching oprah eating bon bons. well, my difficult pregnancy is why i watch oprah and eat bon bons.. er, brownies.

anyway, i just wanted to make sure muelu knows how much we appreciate him and recognize all he does for us. we love you daddy! happy valentine's day.

**ps those are hearts the kids are making.. well, kyks it's obvious, kainoa.. well..

mama mihan's famous muffins

i really think if i was a stay at home mom, i'd be 500 lbs and so would my kids. i've been wanting to make amihan's dairy free muffins for a loooong time. this saturday, i finally go to do it. the kids loved it. i added chocolate chips in half the batch as per mama mihan's instructions. muelu liked the plain banana one's (too bad he only got 2 out of the 20 we made) so tonight, i must bake them again. thanks, pinsan!

the kids give me their stamp of approval.

doing a lot of nothing

this week i was put on bed rest, so i've been home all week. this pregnancy is a bit hard on my body, so the doctor wants me to take it easy.
i have to say i love being home with my kids. i love all the mundane day to day things that have to be done... take kymora to and from school, make lunches, laundry, naps, play time, answering silly questions, baking, etc. i love it when kainoa wakes up and asks me, 'you gonna stay with me today'? when i say yes, his face lights up and he gives me a big hug. he understands that i don't have to go to work and i get to lounge with him all day.

i love waking up to him setting up his cars for the big race:

i love knowing what time his shows come on tv. i love having a routine with him.
and it's nice when kymora comes home from school there's still a lot of time to play outside, have a snack, do homework.... basically just hang out.

normally, by the time i get home its a rush to do homework, shower, dinner, etc. the days are spent w/me yelling at her to get stuff done. i just need to stop, take a breath, and enjoy whatever time w/the kids. soon, there will be a third and some ones time will get taken away from mommy :(

imaginary friends?

lately kainoa has been telling us that his 'boys' are going to pick him up. when we ask him where they are going, he starts rambling about him and his boys going to the movies then to the tool shop to buy hammers to fix his cars. apparently, kainoa will be taking his truck cause there are only 3 of them and they will all fit. their names? kainoa, kainoa, kainoa. there are 3 kainoa's in this circle of friends.

i think it's hilarious that he imagines these things. kymora was more of a 'realist' when it came to playing. no dolls, no made up friends. just coloring, playdough, puzzles, etc. such different styles.
